Warm + Cozy Cottagecore Home Trend
2023 cottagecore style trend and unique amazon finds for your home!
As an enneagram 4 (IYKYK), I am constantly seeking the ever-allusive quality of authenticity. I crave deep meaning in my purchases, environment and experiences. The trend toward styling a home after a simpler way of life that we find in the cottagecore movement is so appealing to me for these reasons! Restoring antique wood, centering up-cycled decor and playing with the realtionship between texture and light is both challenging and inspiring to me. Here’s an abridged introduction to the style plus some inspo I’ve found especially lovely - I’d love to hear what you think!

Creating Charm and Comfort: Embracing the Cozy Moody Cottage Decor Style
In the world of interior design, trends come and go, but some styles have a timeless allure that captivates our hearts. One such enchanting trend is the Cozy Moody Cottage decor style. Inspired by the warmth of traditional cottages and the allure of moody aesthetics, this style creates a haven of comfort and charm that's hard to resist.

The Palette of Emotion:
At the heart of this “cottagecore” style is its color palette. Rich, deep tones dominate the scene, with shades of deep blues, forest greens, and charcoal grays taking center stage. These colors infuse the space with a sense of coziness and intimacy, evoking feelings of tranquility and nostalgia. Complemented by muted pastels and earthy neutrals, this palette strikes a delicate balance between shadow and light, creating a truly immersive experience.
Textures that Tell Stories:
This style is all about tactile indulgence. From rich linen sofas to knitted throws and weathered wood furniture, this style is a celebration of textures. These elements not only provide visual interest but also offer a sensory experience that envelops you in comfort. Imagine sinking into a worn leather armchair or tracing your fingers along the grain of a reclaimed wooden table – each texture tells a story of its own.
Whimsical Accents:
It's the little details that truly bring the whole narrative life. Think vintage-inspired artwork, antique picture frames, and carefully curated collections of trinkets that adorn shelves and mantelpieces. These whimsical accents add a touch of character and individuality to the space, making it feel like a cherished home rather than just a design trend. ***HOT TIP: Thrift stores and antique shops can be relaxing and inspiring to browse and collect meaningful pieces that speak to you. Bonus that you are giving new life to items that would likely otherwise end up in a landfill!
Playing with Light:
Lighting plays a crucial role in setting the mood of any space, and in the world of cottagecore, it's no different. Soft, warm lighting from a combination of table lamps, floor lamps, and sun light creates an inviting atmosphere. Candles, with their flickering flames, add a touch of romance and intimacy that complements the moody aesthetic perfectly.

FILM DROP 01
I always felt more human in the valley…
I’ve had this roll of film floating around my gear kit for YEARS, and I finally made the time to drop it off for processing. I had no idea what was on it and - wow - what a fun surprise dose of nostalgia these images turned out to be!
When we lived in Los Angeles, Andrew and I had this amazing yearly tradition of going to Yosemite with our best friends every October. It was a ritual that we looked forward to all year long and no trip ever disappointed. Yosemite Valley is a place filled to the brim with wonder and majesty. I feel more human when I get to walk the valley floor and look up at the granite walls, when I feel the vibration of the massive waterfalls through the soles of my feet.
Forever grateful for the memories, lasting friendships, and deep connection to the earth and its Maker these annual trips gifted us.
Hope this post is the reminder you needed to DROP OFF THAT FILM! You’ll be so glad you did.
